Three main reasons for us to hire an Inn-sitter

--Jeanne Muir, Thomas Shepherd Inn, Shepherdstown, West Virginia
  1. Keep occupancy and revenue up, particularly important when your inn is for sale
  2. Have someone present to answer the phone so as not to lose future reservations
  3. Have a real vacation where I don't have to carry the reservation book, check emails and phone messages or worry about a car running into the house  when no one is there (happened once already)
  4. Bonus reason - someone to feed the cat

An "Innsitter"?  Who needs an Inn-sitter?

--Jim Myles, Chelsea House, Chelsea, Michigan
Any innkeeper who works their business full time all year round.  I have three innsitters that I can call on.  I found that it is good to have a couple because not all are available when you need them.  There isn't an innkeeper who doesn't need time off for special occasions with family, vacation or emergencies.  Having a couple of innsitters available that you know, trust and can turn your keys over to to run your business is a tremendous asset.  I know the innsitters I use take care of my guests, my rooms and serve breakfast as I would.  All us innkeepers have their own little quirks with our respective inns.  With a little training each of my innsitters picked up on what items are important to me and our Inn.  Experienced innsitters do that for the innkeepers they serve.  I'm able to keep my Inn open which helps with my occupancy rate and I still make money.  Not as much money but I still make money while I'm away.  Go get you some innsitters!

Why do I hire an Inn-sitter?

--Michelle Natale, Bricktown Inn B&B, Haverstraw, New York
Because we all know that innkeeping is a 24/7/365 job, and you have to love what you do to keep up that pace.  We also know that we deserve some R&R at least twice a year.  But the most important thing to us is our business and our reputation which is why we rely on Two Hearts Professional Innsitting Service.  They are who we are when we're not here.  They represent us and care for our guests and our property just as we would.  Our guests are the lifeline to our business and it is important to us not only that we get a vacation to refresh and renew, but also that those who patronize our establishment during the times we are away are being taken care of as we would ourselves.

We have been fortunate enough to have had Sue or Anne or both of them represent us for the past six years and we couldn't be happier.  We can go away and relax knowing that our business and our property is in their capable hands.

Why do I hire an Inn-sitter?

--Marla Queen, The Queen's Residence B&B, Ypsilanti, Michigan
First and foremost, it is wonderful to develop a relationship with someone you trust with your inn and who will provide your guests with the same standard of service as you would.  At least that is why we hire you and not someone else.  Another reason is to prevent burnout.  All innkeepers need to take breaks.  With this said, it is nice to be able to earn money AND take a break!  It keeps the flow of business going as well; occupancy rates count! We like to think that inn keeping provides a great quality of life, that is enhanced even further with the availability of inn sitters.  Keep up the good work Sue and Anne!
